Interview

Although he was born in Massachusetts, adult star Derrick Pierce grew up in Southern California and considers himself an LA boy. This powerhouse performer has appeared in over 100 adult videos and feature films and is widely recognized as one of the most sizzlin' guys in the adult world today. You only need to take one look at his jaw-droppingly buff bod and ruggedly erotic good looks to see why. His career is in full throttle and he's worked for just about every company in the business, including Hustler, Playboy, Wicked, Evil Angel, and many others. In addition to his work in adult films, he's currently co-host with adult star Kylie Ireland on Playboy's Sirius radio show ‘The Friday Night Three-Way’ on Radio Channel 198 from 7pm-9pm. With many accomplishments already under his belt, he's well on his way to becoming an adult superstar. Ms HW decided to plunge into the depths of Mr DP (perfect initials for his line of work!) to find out what makes him tick... yeah, she dared to wander into his dominating, exotic lair and survived to tell the tale, so here's her exclusive interview with The Man himself... Derrick Pierce.

HW: So, Derrick, you're one of the most popular and sought-after male stars in the adult industry today. I recently had the intense pleasure of reviewing one of your videos at SexForGrades.com How does it feel to live every man's wildest sexual fantasies - having your way with some of the most beautiful women in the world who let you tie them up, flog their beautiful butts (among other hardcore, badass activities) and love you for it! Is that fun times or what?

DP: Well, as much as I would like to say that every day is Christmas, it isn't. There are scenes that are just tough - middle of the desert in 110 degree heat, condoms and lube. Can you say "sandpaper"? But all in all, it is what it looks like. I am just in love with women! I cant help myself.

HW: Wow, man, thanks for shattering my illusions that your life is so glamorous! I've heard some of your remarks on the radio show about those desert shoots. Sand, lube and condoms. OUCH! You're in love with women and women are in love with you to the point of being very naughty girls. Poor guy, you just can't help yourself! And the chicks can't help themselves around you, so it works out nice! (and see, I didn't even use the word ‘player’ in this sentence once! HA!) You've got an incredible body and you look smokin' hot from every camera angle. What do you like most about your looks? Anything you don't like or would change? Your tattoos are stunning and they definitely make it easy to find you in all those little thumbnails when I'm surfing the adult sites!

DP: Change? Sure, don't we all feel that way? I like my eyes and legs, the things that I was born with. I've always had big calves/legs. The other body parts are a constant battle. I put on weight just from the smell of doughnuts! I want more tats, but a lot of directors have asked me to hold off. I don't think I will get as much work if I get more.

HW: Your eyes are certainly one of your most striking features (ladies, check out his pics for the proof). They ought to declare your eyes a dangerous weapon! But it's nice to know that even a sex god isn't perfect when it comes to doughnuts - judging from your body though, you have it under control! And I believe there's a particular part of your body that you think is just right from the size standpoint... Not too big, not too small, Mr Perfect (what would this interview be without mentioning those specifics?) Looking back to when you lost your porn virginity, what was it like to perform in front of the camera for the first time? You seem to be a natural performer in the sexual realm, but everybody has to start somewhere. Were you nervous or did it feel like the right thing for you?

DP: The first time I was so freakin excited! it was with Vanessa Lane. That girl is real with it. Fucking awesome! I felt I was going to explode from the anticipation. Yes, I was very nervous the first time, but in a good way. I think I made the right choice, for the moment.

HW: What’s your favorite sexual action to do on camera? Bondage? Anal?

DP: It's all good. Just to have a woman in my arms that really wants to be there is a crazy feeling.

HW: Yeah, it's half the battle when your female partner/co-star is totally into the role and enthusiastic. When people use words like stud or maledom to describe you, are you okay with those labels or is there more to your performances than stereotyped buzzwords? You clearly are far more than a prop to set up the action. Your onscreen presence is so commanding, you OWN it. In another interview you gave, you said that when the guy is strong, the scene will be strong, and if the guy is weak the scene will be weak, that's how important the male talent is to making the girl look good.

DP: I think that male performers are like linemen in the NFL, completely essential and very underrated. At least from the fan standpoint. There are guys in this biz that can perform so well that the girl who is not so good ends up looking amazing. But those are few and far between.

HW: Is there anything particularly funny or weird that stands out in your mind from your shoots?

DP: What seems normal to me, might be crazy to ‘normal’ folks, so I don't really know.

HW: ...well, if ‘normal’ people want to hear about some of the strange insider stuff that happens in the adult world, they can always tune in to the show you co-host with Kylie Ireland on Playboy Sirius Radio, Three-Way Show. You guys have lots of freaky stories to share! More women today are watching porn, mainly because of the Net, where they can download hot guys like Derrick Fuckin Pierce in the privacy of their homes. Sneaky bad girls! But we often complain about the lack of hot guys in adult videos to stroke our fantasies and desires. Not to detract from other talented men in the industry, but watching you has given me hope that there are guys with looks, attitude, and talent to keep us porn-loving females happy. And yeah, we do exist and we come from all walks of life and backgrounds. Are you the man to fill that need, a straight male star who can really turn up the heat for women? Or is your fanbase still primarily guys?

DP: I would love to look at myself in that light, but that would be pretty premature! I think more men are fans of the immediate work than women. They happen upon me by accident.

HW: Hmmm, don't be so modest! In my opinion, from a fan standpoint, you're the sexiest and most talented male performer to EVER hit the scene, and I'm not one to say that lightly. I'm really picky about male talent, so it takes a lot for me to notice. Most times, I end up watching the chicks and I'm straight! I happen to know there are many females out here who share my opinion and think you're the ultimate hot guy, so I don't think it's premature at all to view yourself in that light. But it will probably always be true that most of the fans are guys. Although you do a range of material, my personal favs are your BDSM hardcore scenarios. You really are the greatest ass flogger in the business! Call me freaky, but I love watching you torment females in a variety of kinky situations (especially when you reward them with an orgasm for their obedience!) However, some people, including adult legend Kylie Ireland, have said that (gasp) in real life, you're a nice guy, a man's man, intelligent, witty, and respectful of women. Could that possibly be true? Or am I destroying your tough guy image?

DP: Nah, my street cred is in full effect! I grew up with just my Mom, so I have a special attachment with treating women the way they would like to be treated. Although I am no pushover, I listen very well.

HW: Whew, I'm relieved to know that your bad boy rep is still intact. Regarding listening, one thing I've noticed in all your scenes is that you do seem to listen and also make intense eye contact with your female partner. That's what gives the interaction so much heat and believability, even when it's a fantasy far-fetched scenario. Maybe especially in that case. I sense that there's the heart of a romantic beating under there - as Kylie Ireland calls you, ‘the manwhore with a heart‘. But yeah, I did also happen to notice in your BDSM scenes, you definitely aren't a pushover.

I saw online that you say you only have one vice. (geez, only ONE?) Hmmm, what's that all about?

DP: I love cigars! It makes me relax! Gotta take that 45 minutes, or ya just cant smoke! Okay maybe two vices… women are my other.

HW: Well, maybe women aren't your vice, they're your sexual inspiration. But having only two vices ain't bad - that makes you almost a porn saint. If your adult career ever goes soft (okay, that was lame - you have my permission to spank me NOW!), you have a backup with your custom motorcycle business. You're a car enthusiast, right? Does that keep you down to earth and grounded a bit when having sex on camera gets a little crazy?

DP: So far having sex for a living hasn't gotten to me. I keep the same friends that I’ve had for years. They keep me grounded. I'm just trying to make $$$’s.

HW: It's cool that you've kept your friends, especially in a business where there are people who want things from you, but maybe don't give back. Life in general is that way. You seem like you handle the business intelligently and have that discipline/work ethic that gets noticed. Who do you admire in the adult entertainment world? Has anyone been a mentor to you? Any favorite ladies you've worked with?

DP: I admire successful performers who have made the switch from the front of the camera to the back. guys like Jules, Manuel, John Strong, Everhard. all those guys were top top performers prior to being directors/shooters. Miles Long helped me a lot when I first came on. So did John Strong. Favorite ladies? Wow that list is just too damn long.

HW: You have been lucky to be surrounded by some of the best talent out there, so you're getting the benefit of combined years of experience. About the ladies... I figured you wouldn't answer that one, being the chivalrous gentleman that you are, but hey, I had to ask anyway! I'm totally turned on when I watch your outrageously hot body and those penetrating, steely blue eyes (plus your silky voice and wicked grin that you ought to trademark!), but for me it's really your acting ability and personal charisma that puts your performances over the top and makes your scenes so fascinating. You really get into your roles and have great chemistry with your female co-stars. With all that going for you, do you ever see yourself crossing into the mainstream acting world? If you could do anything, what would be your dream role?

DP: I came from mainstream, and have been in SAG (Screen Actors Guild) for many years. I wouldn't mind going back to it from time to time. Dream role? hmmm…?

HW: I wasn't aware that you had done work outside of the adult industry. You probably get typecast as an action guy, but I think you could do just about anything, including comedy. For your dream role, (actually my dream role for you!) I'd love to see you do a softcore five hour make-out session... I want you to make that happen! Okay, here's another lame question, but I can't resist: what's the ‘hardest’ thing about being an adult performer? Seriously, is it tough to combine everyday life with what you do professionally?

DP: The hardest thing? Consistency. I can separate the two fairly well.

HW: By consistency, I presume you mean the consistency of your performances. So far, I haven't seen you do anything that wasn't awesome. It's great that you can separate the fantasy world of porn sex pretty well from your everyday life and sidestep the drama whenever possible. Of course, wherever you are, women follow, so there's not much you can do about it! Which project have you been most proud of or enjoyed working on the most?

DP: ‘Chemistry 3‘, and ‘Upload‘, as of now.

HW: You have a lot of female fans, but do you ever get negative feedback from women, particularly about your hard bondage scenes? In truth, many women have bondage/rough sex fantasies at one time or another. Most won't admit their darker fantasies, but I'm sure they're extremely aroused watching you fulfil their hidden desires on screen. From a female perspective, I personally feel that any criticism directed at you from women is hypocritical. You give your ladies a sexual workout, but I've seen candid clips of you asking them what they enjoyed most about their scenes with you, and they seem very satisfied. (even with the infamous anal hook!) How do you respond to judgmental female critics of your work?

DP: Wow, I haven't had any negative words thus far. At least not to my face.

HW: That's surprising, because the feminists are always out there with the ‘porn degrades women’ rap. Do you think of yourself as the ultimate sex god or just a regular guy doing a job? (albeit a super hot job, but a job nonetheless).

DP: It's a job, just not the norm. We all make choices in our life. Some of us take the opportunity to fail, and end up with success. I'm still working on the success part! I would rather try and fail at something, than sit back and wonder ‘what if?’.

HW: You've contributed to DefendOurPorn.org by waiving your performance fee on a project for them. As a part of the adult community, what's your feeling about free speech issues and the rights of adults to view adult material if they choose?

DP: Whether you like what I do or not, it isn't against the law. When the minority begin trying to dictate what is or is not moral for the rest of us, we are a done deal. Today you see them coming after porn. Tomorrow it might be what you practice as your religious beliefs. Then what?

HW: Yes, it's a slippery slope and most Americans who moralize and judge about the adult world don't seem to get it, that it will be their liberties taken away next if they sit by and allow witch hunts against performers, directors, producers or whoever, people who are obeying the law. I admire you for being supportive of your fellow performers/community when there's a need.

So, let's talk about what you're currently doing. Apart from your very busy schedule making lots of hot movies for a variety of studios, you're the co-host on the Playboy Friday Three Way show on Sirius radio with your good friend, adult star Kylie Ireland. I've listened to several shows, and it's hilarious. I don't laugh that easily, so it's got to be good for me to laugh out loud. You guys are off the wall, and the show is everything it should be - hot, funny, raunchy and just freakin insane. The premise of the show is each week, you and Kylie bring on a guest porn chick and she's your three-way girl...

DP: I do my best to hang on by the skin of my teeth with all those damn women on the show!

HW: Yeah, they really rough ya up, Derrick! They make you Defend Mankind, which is one of the funniest segments on the show. I'm still trying to decide if a guy who keeps his socks on during sex is lame or not, but you did your best to defend the dudes! Cold feet! There's always a defense for guys!

So, where do you see yourself career wise in five years? Still working in adult or expanding into other avenues? You've ‘cum’ a long way in a short time! Do you think you're destined to be a porn icon, a future member of the AVN Hall of Fame?

DP: I don't really think that much of my performances. I'm just trying to bring out as much realness from the women as possible. In 5 years I don't plan on performing anymore, but definitely still in the biz, producing, etc.

HW: In five years, we're gonna lose you behind the camera? Is there any way I can convince you to stick around for another 10 or 50 years? Bribes? Whatever you want, babe! It's yours! I know that whatever you decide to do, it'll be done well, with your unique brand of creativity, sex appeal and wit. I don't say this in jest: I really don't think the industry will ever see anyone quite like you again. Guys think it's easy to do what you do, but that's far from being the case. You've been cool to take time from your extremely hectic schedule to allow us to get a peek behind the scenes. I guess it's now time for this bitch to shut up - and I mean that in the nicest way!
